Are bifolds better than sliding doors?

The answer to this question will be down to the individual taste, as both our aluminium sliding and bifold doors are incredibly thermally efficient and secure. However, the aesthetics of the doors are slightly different.

Perhaps the main attraction towards our sliding doors is the more glass to frame ratio. Sliding doors have fewer sightlines, so if you have a picturesque view over the Thames from your East London flat then sliding doors will not interrupt the panorama as much as bifold doors. However, many homeowners are fixed on aluminium bi-fold doors right from the start because they want to be able to fully open their room, seamlessly blending their garden and home. Perfect for London homes with either a small garden or indoor space, bifold doors will make your home feel airier and more spacious.

Though, have you ever considered aluminium slide and pivot door? Allowing for 2, 3, 4, or 6 door panels, hingeless aluminium slide & pivot doors have reimagined the traditional bifold system by using individual sashes that function independently from one another. Large or small, this mechanism is ideal for any type of London home or apartment.

An important decision when purchasing an aluminium bifold door is the colour. Your new door can make all the difference to the aesthetic of your home, so it can be a hard decision to make! Two of the most popular colours are white and grey; but which one should you choose for your bifold door?

White aluminium doors

A neutral tone, white is a staple for many home improvement products. It creates a light and bright ambiance and will suit any home, no matter how modern or traditional it may be. Though did you know that there are numerous shades of white to choose from? Broadening your range of options to find the perfect tone to match your home; Traffic white, Pure white, and Signal white are all popular shades!

Grey aluminium doors

Grey aluminium bifold doors have become popular over the years due to how versatile all shades are, from Anthracite Grey, Pebble grey, or Slate grey, all shades complement contemporary and traditional homes. An alluring colour, grey aluminium bifold doors are more of a striking feature, compared to white. So, if you are looking to create a focal point, then grey will achieve just this!

Bifold Doors

Modern aluminium doors: are they safe?

Aluminium may be light but it is instinctively strong, and thanks to the intelligent design of our modern aluminium entrance doors, they are extremely secure. Each door is fitted with a reinforced inner frame preventing any forced entry and if your door design features glass, you will benefit from 66mm triple glazing. Giving you complete peace of mind, our glazing is PAS 24 approved, which ensures a burglar cannot gain access to your home by forcing it out of the door frame. In addition, the heavy-duty hinges are resistant to 80kg of pressure per hinge, and multi-point locking systems are fitted as standard.
